History

Xavier Crochet comes from a family of several generations of winegrowers.
His father, Henri Crochet, ran the family vineyards in Bergères sous Montmirail and the Vallée de la Marne (Mareuil-le-Port, Troissy), and his mother, Françoise Rivière, managed the vineyards in the Côte des Blancs (Cramant, Oiry) and the Sézannais (Saudoy and Barbonne-Fayel). In 1985, Henri and Françoise Crochet decided to combine their respective terroirs and launch Champagne Crochet-Rivière.
Consequently, Xavier grew up in the world of Champagne, obtaining an advanced vocational training certificate (BTS) in viticulture and oenology, as well as a diploma of oenology.
After undertaking studies in sensory analysis, Gaëlle met Xavier while studying for their Masters in Champagne wines, in 2003. They first worked together at the family winery. In 2014, they decided to express their personalities more fully by creating their own wines : CHAMPAGNE G.X.CROCHET was born. They now press and vinify their wines on the family domain at Bergères sous Montmirail, but commercialise them from their Montmirail property, a former farmhouse which they are lovingly restoring.
